About Fishing with Veterans UK

Fishing with Veterans UK was born from a deeply personal journey—one that started at the edge of a local reservoir when I first picked up a rod at the age of 10. What began as a hobby quickly turned into a lifelong passion. But as the pressures of a demanding career took over, my time on the bank grew scarce, and my mental health began to suffer. Taking time out to reconnect with fishing not only helped me heal, but also introduced me to an incredible community of like-minded people, laying the foundation for what would become these fishing adventures.

The idea truly came to life when a close friend returned from active service. He needed a change, some peace, and most importantly, a friend. We began casting lines together, talking, sharing, and healing—those simple moments made a lasting impact on both of us. It became clear that this was more than just fishing. It was support, care, and camaraderie—something many veterans miss after leaving service.

Over the past few years, a growing number of service personnel have transitioned out of the military, often struggling with day-to-day life, the loss of routine, and a lack of support. Many face challenges accessing basic services, housing, and mental health care. Fortunately, there are incredible charities out there making a real difference—and we’re proud to partner with a few of them.

That’s where we come in. Fishing with Veterans UK organises nationwide fishing adventures designed to offer support, companionship, and a safe space for veterans to connect and heal. Alongside this, we work to raise awareness and funds for the charities who continue to serve those who have served us.

Each adventure we host costs around £50+ per person, covering essentials to ensure the day meets the individual needs of every veteran attending. We rely on generous donations of money, fishing gear, and volunteer time to keep these events going and growing—reaching more areas, more waters, and most importantly, more people in need.

Together, through the simple but powerful act of casting a line, we aim to build a nationwide network of support, one fishing adventure at a time.
